Ayurveda translated directly means life knowledge. It is a health science with 5000 years of recorded history of rigourous scientific study, and practical application. Although it encompasses 8 disciplines: Internal medicine; Ears, Nose & Throat; Toxicology; Pediatrics; Surgery; Psychiatry; Aphrodisiacs; Rejuvenation and noting is seen in isolation.
Ayurvedic medicine recognised the importance of pathology and the need for each individual’s response to their environment to be seen uniquely. As such each person requires a different regimen for healing and well-being. The intention behind it is abundant health and longevity so that your life may be directed towards your purpose. One of the 3 pillars of Ayurveda is Ahara, that is everything that nourishes us through our sense organs, with food, and breath being critical.
Ayurvedic nutrition gives us a framework for healthy eating based on our Ayurvedic constitution or dosha. There are 7 dosha types. In my workshops and cooking classes, you learn about your dosha and your own response to your environment. This enables you to create an intuitive and flexible response to your health through healthy nutrition.
