Cooking for my Dosha

Cooking For My Dosha

Now that you've had an introduction to Ayurveda, you may be looking for ways to further incorporate these principles into your life. Ayurvedic nutrition and cooking provides you with a scaffold on which to build an approach to cooking and eating that serves your health and feeds your purpose.

"How is my purpose related to what I eat?" you ask. It's quite simple. The body has 7 dhatus which are body tissues. Like a waterfall each tissue is nourished by the one before it. The residue from the last tissue is the subtle essence of life, called Ojas. Having Ojas relates to all aspects of life, we feel joyous, we have purpose, we look and feel healthy, we experience ease and satiation.

This process is fed by good nutrition, that follows the principles of correct eating and eating the types of food that is good for you specifically.

In this cooking class we learn how to cook for our dosha, and build up a repertoire of simple recipes that make eating in an Ayurvedic way, simple and sustainable.

Our Doshas, or our Ayurvedic constitutions are a combination of the 5 elements: Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.

Vata = Ether + Air

Pitta = Fire + Water

Kapha = Water + Earth

Knowing our dosha helps us to live in harmony with these innate characteristics, and we quickly able to determine when we are experiencing imbalance. We then use this knowledge to self-heal.
